Issuing points at the counter
Points are awarded by hand from your Customers page. Here is the flow, how to find the right person fast, and how to do it without making the queue wait.
Last updated July 26, 2026
You award points from your Customers page. Open it, find the member, give them the points for what they just bought. That is the whole job.
It is worth saying plainly up front: today this is manual. You do it, by hand, one customer at a time.
The flow
- Open Customers at
/business/customers. - Find the member in the table.
- Award the points for the sale you just took.
The number you enter is whatever your earn rate says. If your program earns 2 points per €1 and the customer spent €6 on a coffee and a pastry, that is 12 points. Keep a note of your rate by the till for the first couple of weeks — everyone does the arithmetic wrong once.
Finding the right person
The table lists name, email, which program they are on, their points balance and their tier. Names are not unique and two María G.s will eventually stand in the same queue.
The email address is the thing that actually identifies someone, so that is what to ask for: "What's the email you signed up with?" It is a normal question and nobody minds it.
If they do not remember, ask what their balance says. Their card at /me shows it, and a balance of 340 next to a balance of 15 settles it instantly.
There is no search-and-filter layer on this table today, and no way to segment your customers. What you get is the list. For a small business that is genuinely fine; if your list has grown past the point where it is fine, tell us.
When the customer has not joined yet
You cannot create a customer for them. People join themselves, through your join link — see how customers join.
So the move at the counter is: hand them the link, let them join while you bag the order, then award the points once they appear in your list. If it is busy, just award them afterwards. The points do not have to land in the same minute as the sale, and a customer who joins at 9am and gets their first points at closing has lost nothing.
Doing it without making the queue wait
The awarding takes seconds. The queue notices the hesitation, not the task.
- Do it in the dead time — while the card machine is thinking, or while the coffee is pouring.
- If three people are waiting, serve all three and award all three at the lull. Nothing expires in five minutes.
- Do not narrate it. Staff who say "sorry, just adding your points, sorry" make a four-second job feel like a minute.
A worked example. A lunch rush of 40 covers in 50 minutes, maybe 12 of them members: that is twelve four-second tasks, under a minute of work spread across an hour. It only becomes a problem if someone stops the line to do it.
If you award the wrong person, or the wrong number
It happens, usually with the two Marías. Nothing is lost and nothing is stuck: you correct it by adding a further line, not by editing the one you got wrong, and both stay visible. The customer keeps everything they legitimately earned.
Do it there and then if you spot it there and then, and tell the customer you are doing it. Fixing mistakes and the ledger covers the correction itself and what to say while you make it.
What is not there yet
Every customer's card displays a QR code, and it is reasonable to assume you scan it. You do not. Nothing scans that code yet. There is no scanner app and no scan-to-earn flow, so please do not build your counter routine around one, and do not promise a member that "we'll just scan your phone next time."
Manual awarding is also one of the capabilities your plan controls. If you cannot see the award action at all, that is the reason, and it is a conversation with us rather than a setting you are missing.
Next
The other half of the counter routine is redeeming a reward.

How customers join your program
Customers join by opening a link you share. Here is where to find that link, what they see when they tap it, and how to ask without holding up the queue.
Redeeming a reward
The customer taps the reward on their card, which creates a pending redemption. Someone on your side confirms it, and only then are the points deducted.
Training your staff in 15 minutes
Your staff need to do three things and know one sentence. Here is a 15-minute session you can run on a quiet Tuesday, and a short what-to-do-when list for the counter.
